In my experience it was easiest to be very clear with him. If I didn't approve of how he handled things or his attitude. But it also takes some pushing for it to stick. I think the people he knows from home understand how to handle it best.

Because they're from his home. It seemed like he spoke to them more than he did to us, so I assumed that meant he was being honest with them.
